Why Is Setting Up a Saltwater Aquarium More Difficult

Saltwater tanks are commonly said to be more difficult to keep than freshwater. Here are some reasons why:

  • Saltwater fish are accustomed to a very stable environment in the ocean...they don't tolerate fluctuations in aquarium environments very well.
  • There aren't as many disease-causing bacteria in their environments, so when an outbreak occurs in the tank...saltwater fish can't always handle it.

If you're up for the challenge, a saltwater tank can be a very rewarding experience, but do your your research first.
